Flavokawain B is a natural chalcone isolated from kava root extracts that exhibits potent pro-apoptotic activity in cancer cells. It induces G2/M phase cell cycle arrest and triggers the mitochondrial cell death pathway through reactive oxygen species generation, loss of mitochondrial membrane potential, and caspase activation. Furthermore, it upregulates p21 expression to modulate cell cycle progression and inhibit tumor cell proliferation. [1]

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
