Flagelin 22 is a synthetic 22-amino-acid peptide derived from bacterial flagellin that acts as an elicitor of plant innate immunity. It specifically binds to the pattern recognition receptor FLAGELLIN SENSITIVE 2 (FLS2) to induce complex formation with the coreceptor BRI1-ASSOCIATED KINASE 1 (BAK1) and trigger ligand-induced FLS2 endocytosis. This activation initiates downstream immune signaling, leading to rapid generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and activation of plant defense responses. [1][2]

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
