Biological Activity
Fenoldopam is a selective dopamine-1 (DA1) receptor agonist that potently activates dopamine D1-like receptors to stimulate intracellular cAMP accumulation. Receptor activation leads to the stimulation of adenylate cyclase, resulting in elevated intracellular cAMP levels and downstream signaling through protein kinase A (PKA). This molecular pathway mediates renal vasodilation, increases renal blood flow, and enhances natriuresis and diuresis. [1]
