Biological Activity

Etripamil (MSP-2017) is a short-acting L-type calcium channel antagonist that targets slow L-type calcium channels in atrioventricular (AV) nodal cells. By inhibiting trans-sarcolemmal calcium influx through L-type calcium channels, etripamil slows AV nodal conduction velocity and prolongs the AV nodal refractory period. This transient electrophysiological action disrupts AV node-dependent reentrant pathways, resulting in rapid prolongation of the PR interval and suppression of supraventricular tachyarrhythmias.

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
