Ethyl palmitate is a fatty acid ethyl ester that exhibits anti-inflammatory activity. It suppresses macrophage activation by down-regulating the nuclear factor-kB (NF-kB) signaling pathway, resulting in reduced expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines including tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) and interleukin-6 (IL-6). Inhibition of NF-kB signaling attenuates downstream inflammatory cascades and protects tissues from cytokine-mediated inflammatory damage.

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
