Biological Activity

ES9-17 is a potent, selective, and reversible inhibitor of clathrin-mediated endocytosis (CME) that directly targets the N-terminal domain of the clathrin heavy chain. By binding to the clathrin heavy chain, ES9-17 disrupts clathrin-dependent vesicle formation and intracellular membrane trafficking. Consequently, this inhibition blocks the endocytic uptake of the lipophilic dye FM4-64 as well as multiple CME cargoes in Arabidopsis plants. [1]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
