Biological Activity

Ertugliflozin L-pyroglutamic acid is a potent, selective, and orally active inhibitor of human sodium-dependent glucose cotransporter 2 (h-SGLT2) with an IC50 of. By blocking SGLT2 in renal proximal tubules, it reduces renal glucose reabsorption and promotes urinary glucose excretion. This mechanism lowers systemic blood glucose levels without stimulating insulin secretion, supporting its therapeutic potential in type 2 diabetes mellitus. [1]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
