Biological Activity
Eriocitrin is a dietary flavone glycoside predominantly found in lemons that exhibits potent antioxidant activity. It effectively attenuates oxidative stress by scavenging reactive oxygen species and suppressing lipid peroxidation in biological systems. Downstream, eriocitrin modulates cellular inflammatory and metabolic pathways, suppressing the expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines while preserving mitochondrial biogenesis and cellular redox homeostasis. These combined mechanisms protect cells against oxidative damage and inflammation-induced injury. [1]

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
