Epirubicin is a semisynthetic anthracycline derivative that targets topoisomerase IIα (TOP2A) to inhibit DNA replication and transcription. By stabilizing the topoisomerase II-DNA cleavage complex, it induces DNA double-strand breaks, triggering DNA damage response signaling, cell cycle arrest, and apoptosis in cancer cells. Epirubicin also modulates immune responses by suppressing regulatory T-cell activity to enhance anti-tumor immunity. [1]
