Eleutherol is a natural naphthalene derivative that acts as an inhibitor of α-glucosidase and exhibits antifungal activity. By inhibiting α-glucosidase, it impairs carbohydrate cleavage and delays glucose absorption in the gastrointestinal tract, leading to reduced postprandial blood glucose spikes. In addition, its antimicrobial properties suppress fungal cell growth. Consequently, Eleutherol serves as a useful small-molecule tool for research into diabetes management and antimicrobial strategies.
