Biological Activity

Elbasvir (MK8742) is a potent hepatitis C virus (HCV) NS5A inhibitor with median EC50 values ranging from 0.2 tool/L across various viral genotypes. By targeting the NS5A protein, it disrupts both HCV RNA replication and virion assembly. This selective inhibition suppresses viral polyprotein processing and replication complex formation, thereby impairing viral propagation in infected host cells. [1]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
