Biological Activity

DuP-697 is a potent, irreversible, selective, and orally active inhibitor of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2). By suppressing COX-2 enzymatic activity, DuP-697 blocks downstream prostaglandin synthesis and attenuates pro-inflammatory signaling pathways. In cancer cells, targeted COX-2 inhibition exerts antiproliferative, antiangiogenic, and pro-apoptotic effects by inducing cell-cycle arrest and activating caspase cascades to suppress cellular growth.[1][2]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
