Biological Activity

DSRM--Iodoisoquinoline) is a potent and selective inhibitor of sterile alpha and Toll/interleukin-1 receptor motif-containing protein 1 (SARM1) with an IC0 of 7. By inhibiting SARM1 NADase enzymatic activity, it prevents cyclic ADP-ribose (cADPR) elevation and axonal NAD+ depletion following axotomy or mitochondrial stress. This preserves cellular energy metabolism and robustly blocks pathological axonal degeneration. [1]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
