Biological Activity

DNase I, Bovine pancreas is a Ca²⁺/Mg²⁺-dependent endonuclease that selectively targets the minor groove of double-stranded DNA to cleave phosphodiester bonds. By catalyzing single- and double-strand DNA cleavage, it converts high-molecular-weight double-stranded DNA into 5'-phosphorylated oligonucleotide fragments. This enzymatic hydrolysis disrupts DNA double-helix integrity and chromatin architecture, facilitating nucleic acid degradation in genomic and chromatin remodeling research. [1][2]
