Biological Activity

Diphenylamine Hydrochloride is an aniline derivative that acts as an inhibitor of mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation. By disrupting the mitochondrial bioenergetic machinery, it impairs ATP production and cellular energy metabolism. In addition to its impact on oxidative energy pathways, this compound exhibits antifungal and antihelmintic activities by altering essential cellular metabolic functions. These actions collectively suppress targeted fungal growth and cellular viability in biological systems. [1]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
