DiD perchlorate is a lipophilic long-chain carbocyanine dye widely utilized as a fluorescent membrane probe for labeling cells, organelles, liposomes, and viruses. Upon incorporating into lipid bilayers, DiD exhibits significantly enhanced far-red fluorescence with low background signal in aqueous environments. This property enables robust non-invasive cell tracking, liposomal monitoring, membrane dynamics analysis, and fluorescence imaging both in vitro and in vivo without disrupting normal cell viability or physiological functions.
