Biological Activity

Diclofenac Epolamine is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agent (NSAID) that acts as an inhibitor of cyclooxygenase-1 (COX-1) and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2). By inhibiting COX enzymatic activity, it suppresses the conversion of arachidonic acid into pro-inflammatory prostaglandins such as PGE2. This reduction in prostaglandin biosynthesis mitigates inflammatory signalling pathways, leading to downstream analgesic, antipyretic, and anti-inflammatory phenotypes in cellular and animal models. FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
