Biological Activity
DFP00173 is a selective and potent inhibitor of human and mouse aquaporin-3 (AQP3). By blocking AQP3-mediated water and glycerol transport across plasma membranes, DFP00173 modulates cellular fluid permeability and downstream metabolic processes. This targeted inhibition of transmembrane water channel function highlights its therapeutic potential for managing human disorders associated with abnormal water retention. [1]

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
