Biological Activity
Desmethyl Celecoxib is a diarylpyrazole derivative and selective inhibitor of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) with potent anti-inflammatory properties. By selectively inhibiting COX-2 enzymatic activity, the compound suppresses the conversion of arachidonic acid into pro-inflammatory prostaglandins. This targeted blockade attenuates prostaglandin E2 biosynthesis, downstream inflammatory signaling pathways, and cell proliferation, leading to reduced tissue inflammation and cellular pain responses in preclinical models. Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
