Biological Activity

Deslanoside (Desacetyllanatoside C) is a cardenolide glycoside that acts as a Na+/K+-transporting ATPase inhibitor with cardiotonic and anti-arrhythmic activity. By inhibiting Na+/K+-ATPase, deslanoside modulates intracellular cascades, including the MAPK signaling pathway, to induce G2/M phase cell cycle arrest and trigger apoptosis. Downstream, these target actions effectively impair cellular viability and suppress tumor cell proliferation, migration, and colony formation. [1]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
