Biological Activity
D-Glucose 6-phosphate disodium salt is a key metabolic intermediate that acts as a central substrate at the junction of glycolysis and the pentose phosphate pathway. Within cellular metabolism, glucose 6-phosphate is converted to generate pyruvate and ATP via glycolysis, or utilized by glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase to produce NADPH and ribose 5-phosphate. Furthermore, it serves as a precursor for glycogen biosynthesis, regulating cellular energy homeostasis, metabolic flux, and redox balance. [1]

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
