D-Fructose is a naturally occurring dietary monosaccharide that serves as a primary energy substrate and carbon source in cellular metabolism. Upon uptake through hexose transporters such as GLUT5, D-fructose is phosphorylated by ketohexokinase to fructose-1-phosphate, bypassing key regulatory steps of glycolysis. Metabolic flux through hepatic fructolysis promotes lipogenesis, glycogen synthesis, and altered intracellular energy status, driving downstream metabolic signaling pathways. [1][2]

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
