Biological Activity

CyPPA is a subtype-selective positive modulator of small-conductance calcium-activated potassium (SK) channels that acts on hSK3 (EC50 5.6 μM) and hSK2 (EC50 14 μM), while remaining inactive against hSK1 and hIK channels. By increasing the calcium sensitivity of SK2 and SK3 channel activation, CyPPA promotes potassium efflux and membrane hyperpolarization, thereby regulating neuronal excitability and fine-tuning calcium-dependent signaling pathways. FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
