Cyclizine hydrochloride is a piperazine-derived antagonist of the H1 histamine receptor that exhibits potent antihistaminic activity. By binding to the G-protein-coupled H1 histamine receptor, it inhibits histamine-mediated activation of the phospholipase C signaling pathway, thereby blocking downstream intracellular calcium mobilization and phosphoinositide hydrolysis. This inhibition modulates central vestibular neurotransmission and peripheral histaminergic responses, leading to the suppression of motion-induced emetic pathway signaling. [1]

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
