Biological Activity

Cyanidin-3-O-glucoside chloride is a natural anthocyanin compound with antioxidant and neuroprotective activities. It attenuates oxidative stress by suppressing intracellular reactive oxygen species accumulation and preventing oxidative cellular damage, thereby protecting neuronal cells against amyloid-beta-induced neurotoxicity. In addition, cyanidin-3-O-glucoside chloride exhibits anti-inflammatory activity through inhibition of cyclooxygenase enzymes and downstream signaling cascades to support neuronal survival. [1][2]

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
