Biological Activity

CT-996 is an orally active, cAMP-biased agonist of the glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor (GLP-1R). Activation of GLP-1R selectively stimulates intracellular cAMP signaling with minimal recruitment of β-arrestin and reduced receptor internalization. This signaling cascade enhances glucose-dependent insulin secretion, suppresses glucagon release, and improves glucose homeostasis, making it valuable for studying metabolic disorders such as type 2 diabetes and obesity. FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
