Otenabant (CP-945598) HCl is a potent and selective cannabinoid receptor CB1 antagonist with a Ki of 0.7 nM, exhibiting over 10,000-fold selectivity against the human CB2 receptor. By targeting and blocking CB1 receptor-mediated signaling, CP-945598 suppresses endocannabinoid pathways, resulting in reduced food consumption, altered energy expenditure, and body weight loss in preclinical animal models.

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
