CORM-401 is a water-soluble carbon monoxide-releasing molecule that exhibits antioxidant and cytoprotective properties under oxidative stress conditions. It promotes nitric oxide production and activates the pentose phosphate pathway while triggering calcium signaling in endothelial cells. These intracellular signaling events modulate vascular tone, reduce cellular damage induced by reactive oxygen species and inflammatory cytokines, and support endothelial cell survival and overall vascular function.
