Biological Activity

CMP-5 is a potent and selective small-molecule inhibitor of protein arginine methyltransferase 5 (PRMT5). By inhibiting the methyltransferase activity of PRMT5, CMP-5 selectively blocks symmetric dimethylation of histone H4 arginine 3 (H4R3me2s). This inhibition modulates downstream epigenetic gene expression and suppresses oncogenic signaling pathways, supporting research into Epstein-Barr virus-positive (EBV+) lymphomas and other B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma subtypes. FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
