Biological Activity

Cinobufotalin, a natural compound extracted from the skin secretion of the giant toad, functions as a novel sterol regulatory element-binding protein 1 (SREBP1) inhibitor. By specifically targeting SREBP1-mediated de novo lipogenesis, it suppresses key lipid synthesis pathways in liver cancer cells. Downstream inhibition of lipogenesis significantly attenuates cellular lipid accumulation, ultimately resulting in suppressed cell proliferation and impaired tumor growth in hepatocellular carcinoma models. FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
