Biological Activity

Cinitapride Hydrogen Tartrate is a gastroprokinetic agent that acts as an agonist at 5-HT1 and 5-HT4 receptors and as an antagonist at 5-HT2 receptors. By stimulating presynaptic 5-HT4 receptors and inhibiting 5-HT2 receptors, it enhances the release of acetylcholine in the gastrointestinal tract. This activation of cholinergic pathways increases gastrointestinal motility, accelerates gastric emptying, and exhibits gastroprotective effects against acute mucosal lesions in animal models.

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
