Biological Activity
CIM0216 is a synthetic transient receptor potential melastatin 3 (TRPM3) agonist showing selectivity over other TRP family members. Activation of TRPM3 by CIM0216 opens calcium-conducting and alternative cation permeation pathways, evoking robust calcium influx in somatosensory neurons. This ion influx stimulates neuropeptide release, including calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) from sensory nerve terminals, and promotes TRPM3-dependent nocifensive behavioral responses. [1]
