Biological Activity

Cholecystokinin Octapeptide, desulfated is a synthetic peptide agonist that selectively targets CCK-B receptors over CCK-A receptors due to the absence of a tyrosine sulfate group. By preferentially engaging CCK-B receptors, it modulates central nervous system signaling and gastric secretion pathways without significantly activating CCK-A-mediated pancreatic digestive enzyme secretion. Consequently, it serves as a functional probe for investigating CCK-B receptor-dependent physiological phenotypes, including satiety, anxiety, and gastric acid release. [1]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
