Cetirizine is a second-generation, non-sedating selective histamine H1 receptor antagonist with potent anti-allergic and anti-inflammatory properties. By inhibiting histamine binding to H1 receptors, cetirizine suppresses downstream intracellular calcium mobilization and blocks NF-kB pathway activation. This inhibition leads to reduced eosinophil infiltration, decreased vascular permeability, and suppressed release of proinflammatory cytokines and chemokines in allergic inflammation models. [1]

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
