Biological Activity

Cephaeline, a desmethyl analog of emetine, is a potent inhibitor of Zika virus (ZIKV) and Ebola virus (EBOV) infection and acts as an inducer of histone H3 acetylation [1][2]. By targeting viral replication and entry pathways, Cephaeline effectively blocks viral infection [1]. Furthermore, Cephaeline-mediated histone H3 acetylation leads to reduced cellular viability, suppressed growth, and impaired migration of mucoepidermoid carcinoma cancer stem cells[1][2].
