Biological Activity

Cav 2.2 blocker 1 is a potent inhibitor of N-type voltage-gated calcium channels (Cav2.2) evaluated for the management of chronic and neuropathic pain. By selectively blocking Cav2.2 channels, this compound inhibits calcium influx into presynaptic nociceptive neurons, thereby suppressing the release of pro-nociceptive neurotransmitters within the spinal cord dorsal horn. This inhibition disrupts pain signaling pathways and attenuates pain phenotypes in preclinical models. [1]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
