CATPB is a potent antagonist of free fatty acid receptor 2 (FFA2R/FFAR2). It inhibits the transient rise in intracellular calcium ions induced by acetate or synthetic FFAR2 agonists in human neutrophils. By blocking FFA2R-mediated intracellular signaling pathways, CATPB suppresses downstream neutrophil activation responses, including NADPH oxidase-derived superoxide production and inflammatory cellular effector functions.
