Carboplatin is a cytotoxic platinum-based DNA cross-linking agent. It affects p53, DNA damage response, and apoptosis signaling pathways, by binding to DNA to form intra- and interstrand crosslinks and inducing severe DNA damage and ROS production, to inhibit cancer cell proliferation and promote apoptosis.
