(-)-Camphor is a natural monoterpenoid compound that modulates transient receptor potential (TRP) channels, including transient receptor potential vanilloid 1 (TRPV1). It activates and subsequently desensitizes TRPV1 signaling pathways, leading to the inhibition of nociceptive transmission and pain perception. Additionally, camphor exhibits anti-inflammatory and antimutagenic properties, reducing inflammatory mediator production and modulating cellular stress responses in mammalian cell models. [1]
