Biological Activity

BYK204165 is a potent and selective poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase inhibitor that targets human PARP-1 and murine PARP-2. Inhibition of PARP-1 activity blocks poly(ADP-ribose) chain synthesis and prevents cellular NAD+ and ATP depletion following genomic DNA damage. Consequently, this compound suppresses energetic failure, attenuates necrotic cell death, and modulates downstream pro-inflammatory response pathways involved in oxidative cellular injury. [1][2]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
