Butoconazole nitrate (RS-35887) is an imidazole-based antifungal agent that targets fungal cytochrome P450 14α-demethylase (CYP51) to disrupt ergosterol biosynthesis. It also exerts immunomodulatory activity by inhibiting phytohemagglutinin-stimulated release of inflammatory cytokines, including IL-2, TNFα, IFN, and GM-CSF, from human peripheral blood lymphocytes. This suppression attenuates immune cell activation and inflammatory signaling cascades, making it effective for evaluating fungal sterol biosynthesis and immune response modulation in vitro.

- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
