Biological Activity

BTR-1 is a small-molecule cytotoxic agent that disrupts cell growth and survival in leukemia. Treatment with BTR-1 induces cytotoxicity in CEM leukemia cells in a time- and concentration-dependent manner. Mechanistically, BTR-1 impairs DNA replication by inducing cell cycle arrest at the S phase, which subsequently triggers apoptotic cascades to promote programmed cell death and suppress leukemic cell proliferation. FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
