Biological Activity
BTdCPU is a potent activator of heme-regulated inhibitor kinase (HRI), a key eukaryotic translation initiation factor 2α kinase (eIF2α kinase). Activation of HRI by BTdCPU promotes the phosphorylation of eIF2α, which selectively suppresses general protein translation initiation while activating the integrated stress response (ISR) pathway. This downstream activation increases the expression of transcription factors ATF4 and CHOP, ultimately regulating cellular protein homeostasis and inducing apoptosis in cancer cells.

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
