Biological Activity

BRD6989 is a selective inhibitor of cyclin-dependent kinase 8 (CDK8) and CDK19. Designed as an analog of the natural product cortistatin A, it targets the Mediator kinase module to regulate gene transcription. By inhibiting CDK8 and CDK19, BRD6989 modulates downstream Mediator-dependent signaling pathways and enhances the production of interleukin-10 (IL-10), demonstrating key regulatory effects on transcriptional and immune response networks. FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
