Biological Activity

Brassinazole is a triazole-type brassinosteroid biosynthesis inhibitor with an IC50 of approximately 1 μM. By blocking cytochrome P450-mediated brassinosteroid biosynthesis, it suppresses brassinosteroid signaling. This inhibition impairs key physiological processes in plants, leading to characteristic phenotypes such as reduced stem elongation, leaf dwarfism, and suppressed cell division. Brassinazole serves as a valuable chemical tool for elucidating brassinosteroid-dependent physiological pathways. [1]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
