Bradykinin is an endogenous vasodilator peptide that acts through the stimulation of specific endothelial B2 receptors. Activation of these B2 kinin receptors triggers endothelial signaling cascades, resulting in the release of prostacyclin, nitric oxide, and endothelium-derived hyperpolarizing factor. These downstream vasoactive mediators promote vascular smooth muscle relaxation, decrease arterial tone, and enhance organ tissue perfusion. [1][2]
