Biological Activity

BMS-303141 is a cell-permeable inhibitor of ATP-citrate lyase (ACL) with an IC50 of. By selectively inhibiting ACL, BMS-303141 impairs the catalytic conversion of citrate into acetyl-CoA, a vital precursor for fatty acid and cholesterol biosynthesis. This inhibition disrupts downstream lipogenic pathways, resulting in suppressed cellular lipid accumulation and total lipid synthesis with an IC50 ofin HepG2 cells.

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
