BMS-P5 is a potent and selective small-molecule inhibitor of peptidylarginine deiminase 4 (PAD4). By inhibiting PAD4 catalytic activity, BMS-P5 blocks protein citrullination, particularly target histone hypercitrullination, thereby suppressing neutrophil extracellular trap (NET) formation and downregulating NET-mediated inflammatory signaling pathways. This targeted pharmacological inhibition serves as a key tool for evaluating PAD4-dependent extracellular trap formation in cellular and disease models. [1]

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
