Biological Activity
Fostemsavir is a phosphonooxymethyl prodrug of BMS-626529 that acts as a potent HIV-1 attachment inhibitor by targeting viral envelope glycoprotein 120 (gp120). By binding directly to conformational structures within gp120, it blocks the interaction with host CD4 cell receptors, thereby preventing viral attachment, membrane fusion, and downstream viral entry and infection of susceptible cells.

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
