Biological Activity
BHV-8000 is an oral, brain-penetrant dual selective inhibitor of tyrosine kinase 2 (TYK2) and Janus kinase 1 (JAK1). By inhibiting TYK2 and JAK1 activity, BHV-8000 suppresses JAK/STAT pathway signaling triggered by pro-inflammatory cytokines and interferons. This targeted inhibition attenuates innate and adaptive neuroinflammatory signaling cascades, dampening microglial activation and neurotoxic cytokine release implicated in the progression of neurodegenerative and neuroinflammatory disorders including Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, and multiple sclerosis.

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
